What’s this? Why, it’s issue forty of Mr Spoqui, the family magazine of the Baeza’s, spinning out of Portugal and travelling all over the world from there. This issue is on the subject of islands, and features a  new one page strip from me called Today a Stranger Walks With Us. As if that’s not enough, it also features contributions from Alessandro Ripane, Eduardo Vaz, Éndrjü, Inga Gaile, Jean de Wet, Ji Hyun Yu, Kodi Fabricant and Thales Lira.

I really enjoyed seeing this, and I think that you would too.  Get yourself on over to the website to find out where you can get a copy for yourself.

Somewhat surprisingly, one of the comics that Buzzfeed chose to highlight was How Fucking Romantic, by myself, which was lovely of them. You should go and check out the rest though.

This is terribly nice of him.  If you’ve not checked out Owen’s work, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. It lies somewhere in between Rick Geary and François Schuiten, and is weird and obsessive in just the way that you like. Go and find out for yourself.

There’s a new review of Don’t Be Fooled by the Rocks up over at The Forbidden Planet International Blog today, and Richard Bruton makes a great case for what he thinks the comic is about.

“…it IS meant to have greater meaning. It’s not JUST a few rocks nicely drawn on the pages. And the trick here is that it’s not the author who’s doing the lion’s share of the work, it’s you, and me, the reader. So you start really going into it, start pulling ideas and imagery. Occasionally something resonates… Hertha’s Mace may well be named after the Germanic goddess of fertility, Lob’s Pound may just be referencing the NE England folklore Lob creature similar to Hob, Hobgoblins, and Puck. But equally some things are just out there…The Ivy Jury, Faid’s Rest, The Hindmost  Catch. What do they mean?”

It’s well worth the read, and it’s interesting to see Richard’s suggestions what some of the stories behind the rocks might be. He might be off the mark on Lob’s Pound though, or perhaps exactly right. The only thing I missed was a mention of this.

Okay wonderful people! I fully expect to see you to day at the amazing looking independent comic fair that running at the Mall Gallery in London today. There is a truly stellar line-up involved in this event, including ALL of your favourites, and myself, so do yourself the favour that you’ve always wanted to, and make sure you turn up with your pockets stuffed with pennies.

Starts at ten in the morning, and goes on right through till five, so make the time and come along for the fun!

Here’s something new.  The week before last, I mentioned I had done a few panels for a hypercomic of Mr Goodbrey‘s devising.  Here are those very same panels, coloured red and with a title added, so if you didn’t happen to be at Comiket, you get a chance to see them.
